Understanding Ourselves in Context is a 36-page guided self-reflection workbook designed to help helping professionals examine how their own identities, life experiences, cultural contexts, and social positions have shaped the way they perceive themselves and others. Using Dr. Pamela Hays' ADDRESSING framework as its foundation, the workbook explores domains such as age, disability, religion, race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, Indigenous heritage, national origin, and gender through structured reflection questions, contextual information, and professional application. The goal is not to judge or categorize oneself, but to increase self-awareness, recognize potential assumptions and biases, and strengthen culturally responsive, ethical, and reflective practice with clients, families, supervisees, and colleagues. This is made freely available as a COMMUNITY CARE INITIATIVE.
